Frequently Asked Questions
What billing or insurance information will I receive?
You should receive an Explanation of Benefits (“EOB”) from your insurance carrier that will report to you what services were paid under your plan. If you owe a co-pay or deductible, you will receive a statement from SPG separately. You should receive an EOB if you have private health insurance, a health plan from your employer, or Medicare.
How long will it take to get things settled with the insurance company?
Generally, it takes 3-4 weeks to process a claim; therefore you may receive an EOB approximately 6-8 weeks after the healthcare service. You may receive a statement from SPG during this time period as well if you have patient responsibility.
Why am I getting bills from physicians?
You would receive a bill from a physician if the serivce was not a covered benefit, if you have a deductible and/or a co-pay.
I received a notice that my insurance company has paid on my bill – but I can’t understand how they calculated their payment amount. Do you know?
If you have questions regarding the insurance company’s payment to the provider/group, contact your insurance company directly. The telephone number for you to contact them directly should be clearly stated on your EOB. If not, you can always call the contact number located on the back of your insurance card.
